  Alans Story

In 1972 I purchased  my first collie on the Westlynn, Jefefine, and Rokeby lines.  She had a successful show career, but sadly died after whelping a liter.  I then purchased from my mother, Glenalans Sweet Sugar and Glenalan Blue Moon.  By this time I was working closely with my mother and we were granted the affix Glenalan.  Sweet sugar was sold to France and Bluemoon achieved excellent show results.  We produced English Champion Glenalans Night Shadow at Jaglynn who also won the famous B:I:S: trophies of the British Collie Club Championship Show, plus others won c.cs and r.c.c.s.

In 1986  I decided to give up my job as a Sports Teacher in a Comprehensive School and move to Italy, which was only intended to be for 2 years.  My first 10 months in Italy I spent at the Opilio Kennel, then moved to Rome, to the house of Gianni Catalano, who owned Collies and Afghans.  The collies were from the well-known Pelido Kennels.  After some six months in Rome I was to receive an offer from Luciano Bernini,  International alround judge and owner of the well-know Del Narciso Kennels, who owned Collies, Bearded Collies and Min. Pincher, which he had successfully bred, but his breeding and showing had come to a standstill because of his judging commitments throughout Europe.

I became responsible for the kennel where the breeding programme began to develop with the buying of different dogs, such as Pelido Pavarrotti, English Champion Pelido French Maid, Pelido Limited Edition and Brilyn Checkmate.  With these dogs saw different Italian Champions, in particulary Ch. Sogno Del Narciso, who went to England to the Pelido kennel to become English Champion.    In Beardies saw the arrival of Potterdale Pied Piper and Billy Holiday from Denmark.  With the introduction of these new dogs brought a long list of champions, group and Best in Show winners.  The pride of place must go to  Ch. Hell Narciso De Chester, a bearded collie male from France, who has eleven titles to his name.  The major honour was to gain the title of  Top Dog All Breeds in Italy 1996.  There are so many other dogs I could mention, but hopefully the photos of our dogs will give an insight to what we hope to achieve with our dogs to continue the story.  Sadly a few years ago Luciano Bernini died and the dogs were left in my care, where I have continued to show and breed dogs which are making their mark in other kennels throughout Italy.
